From the moment Santa Joe came into our facility, he began interacting with all the children he met. First he mingled with the crowd and walked around making sure to greet everyone. After that we got him situated and had children line up to meet him...he did this for a full 3 hours! He was very nice and a joy to have visit! Santa Joe was GREAT!!!! He looked very authentic in his costume, he was on time, and he was great with the children and the adults. Dear Santa, I just wanted to thank you for your visit to XXX Elementary. My son, G. is 6 years old. This year he has started to be a bit more cynical about Santa since a class mate insisted Santa wasn't real! (and it is really your Dad that eats the cookies) . We visited Santa at Roper Mountain and had our photo taken, but he had also seen several "Santa Helpers" that further challenged his belief! (Fake beards & plastic boot covers over tennis shoes......)
Before going to the Santa Story time, we told G. that this would probably just be a Santa helper, and since it was a school night we would say "hello" and head on home, rather than pose for the photos. G. is in Ms. R./ Ms. G.'s 5K and Ms. G. pulled me aside to encouraged us to visit Santa. (We have really loved the kindness Ms. G. shows the children).
That night, G. is the little boy you met at the door as he was walking out and you were walking in. Since other children had gotten numbers to see Santa, I told him to just say a quick hello and let you get to all of the children. Santa, you took the time to say Hello, wish him a Merry Christmas and give him a warm hug! He was so excited! He told me you were the 1st Santa he ever hugged back! When we were walking away, his eyes were twinkling as he turned to me and emphatically said, "Now that is the real Santa!" He started to leap around, (like a reindeer he said), and he told me Santa's hug was full of magic.
His 4 year old sister was home sick that night and he told me he was going to share Santa's magic hug. As he fell asleep, he was almost giddy. He told me he was as happy as a little elf! For this year, his faith in Santa has been restored! Thank you Santa!
